Intro to FCS is a half credit elective course. This course is recommended for 9th and 10th graders. It is recommended that students take this course before enrolling in any proceeding FCS courses. 

 

The topics covered in intro to FCS are mini-units that cover all the topics that FCS courses offer. We cover a very broad range of topics, and just get our feet with the details and content of the topics. It's designed to give the students taking the course to get a feel for the areas of FCS for future interests in classes. For freshman, it's a great class to gain confidence in their academic abilities and become acquainted with the content areas. 

 

Topics covered are; self-esteem, goal setting, character, responsibility, careers, relationships, communication skills, confict resolution, peer pressure, families, friendships, caring for children, child development, parenting, money management, technology, health and wellness, food and nutrition, textiles and clothing, and interior design.
